🌑✨ SOLAR ECLIPSE • 12 AUGUST 2026 ✨🌑

Tomorrow evening, the New Moon will pass between Earth and the Sun, giving us here in Northern Ireland a dramatic partial eclipse - with roughly 93% of the Sun covered around Belfast.

Eclipses are associated with change, revelation and redirection. They can illuminate what we’ve been avoiding, bring hidden truths to the surface and mark the ending of one chapter before another begins.

This eclipse falls in fiery Leo, bringing themes of identity, confidence, creativity, courage and allowing yourself to be truly seen.

Rather than attempting to manifest seventeen things before teatime, use this energy to pause, reflect and release what no longer fits.

Some little journal prompts:

🌑 Where have I been making myself smaller?
🌑 What version of myself am I ready to leave behind?
🌑 What truth can I no longer ignore?
🌑 What deserves to take centre stage in my life?

For a simple ritual, write down something you’re ready to release. Sit with it during the eclipse, then safely tear it up or burn it afterwards. It doesn’t need to be elaborate - the intention is the important bit.

You could work with black, gold, orange and deep red, or crystals such as sunstone, tiger’s eye, obsidian and smoky quartz. These are symbolic correspondences, not strict rules, so don’t panic if you don’t own the officially sanctioned eclipse rock collection 🤣

And if the energy feels too chaotic? Do nothing. Observe, rest and let things settle. Not every celestial event requires you to fling herbs around the kitchen.

⚠️ Never look directly at the Sun without proper protection. Ordinary sunglasses are not safe - use certified ISO 12312-2 eclipse glasses or an indirect viewing method.

Here’s hoping the Northern Irish clouds don’t decide they’d also like to obscure the Sun. 🌧️🤣

🌻 August Correspondences 🌻

(***If you’ve been around for a while, you might remember I started this monthly correspondences series last year… and then it abruptly stopped after July. 🙈

Life happened, my mental health took a nosedive, and creating became something I wanted to do but just couldn’t. Looking back, it makes me a little sad that I never finished it.

So… we’re trying again. 💛

Same idea, but with a fresh aesthetic, a bit more research, and (hopefully!) a prettier little series to carry us through the year.***)

August is a month of abundance, gratitude and gathering the rewards of everything you’ve been nurturing. It’s the bridge between the fiery energy of summer and the grounded feeling of the coming harvest.

You’ll notice I’ve chosen Heather rather than Poppy for August. That’s completely intentional. Correspondences vary between traditions, countries and even individual practitioners. I personally feel like Heather feels much more representative of August here in the UK and Ireland, whereas I know that Poppy is more commonly used in other traditions. Neither is “wrong.” They’re simply different paths through the same garden. 🌿

As always, these are guides rather than rules. If another flower, crystal or herb reminds you of August more than the ones listed here, use it. Your practice doesn’t need permission to be personal.

If your practice follows planetary correspondences, Sunday is traditionally associated with the Sun - making it a lovely day for workings around confidence, joy, vitality and personal power.

Or… you could simply sit in the sunshine with a cuppa.

That’s pretty magical too. 🖤

Each one has its own traditional correspondences, helping to support different intentions - from protection and grounding to creativity, confidence and self-love.

It’s one of my favourite parts of creating spell candle kits, especially when someone asks for something completely bespoke.
Pairing colours, herbs, crystals and oils to match their intention is honestly one of the best parts of what I do! ✨

Key words: lack, sadness, confusion

This card invites you to recognise a wounded self deep inside you.

A wounded self can originate from your past but may also be in your cellular memory through the collective unconscious or ancestral trauma. It may be born from a lack of fulfilment of needs, be they physiological or regarding security, love, acceptance, validation and recognition.

By recognising and healing your wounded self you release emotional pain and conscious and unconscious fears.

Guidance

Inside you there may be a wounded self who has lacked maternal love, total acceptance or unconditional generosity.

Your wounded self has suffered from having a mother who was too demanding or removed or perhaps too demonstrative.

Someone may have disappointed you; they haven’t been there for you even though you have given them a lot.

Risks

You tend towards disappointment, passiveness and resignation.

You may feel your lacks or wants are impossible to fulfil or that others don’t care about you and you are alone.

This can make you feel sad, even to the brink of despair.

Healing Mantra

Recite this mantra regularly until you feel something change inside you:

“My emotional and vital needs are completely fulfilled by myself, whom I trust and honour. I value my own presence without needing contributions from others even if I appreciate their generosity towards me.”

Visualisation

Visualise yourself in a cocoon of energy filled with beauty — perhaps a place to sit or lie down, a special colour, peace-inducing decorations or inspiring symbols.

Listen to your intuition and feelings to understand why you choose what beautifies your cocoon if messages or energies come to you from the objects.

Imagine a healing mist with positive waves and healing properties filling you and surrounding you.

Feel that everything you need is here in this bubble out of time and space; you need nothing else because you have access to fullness, complete bliss, comforting warmth, beneficial energies and infinite love.

If you still feel a lack, add things until you are at peace.
